Control water with masks and puddles

Use masks when water needs to respect clothing seams, protected surfaces, a camera composition, or a specific puddle area.

Paint the droplet mask

  1. Select the wet mesh.
  2. Open Droplet Mask under Flow.
  3. Choose Paint to create or select the mask and enter Vertex Paint.
  4. Choose Allow and paint where water may appear.
  5. Choose Block and paint areas that must stay dry.
  6. Choose Exit Paint.
  7. Use Regenerate Water button.

The mask affects small drops, big drops, and stream seeds. A blocked area is an exclusion, so streams generated elsewhere can still approach its boundary.

Initialize the mask from the scene camera

Choose Use Scene Camera to allow water on vertices visible to the active scene camera. This is a starting mask, not a permanent camera dependency:

  1. Position and assign the scene camera.
  2. Select the wet mesh.
  3. Choose Use Scene Camera.
  4. Refine the result with Allow and Block if needed.
  5. Regenerate.

The button is unavailable when the scene has no active camera.

Painted puddles

  1. Switch the top selector from Flow to Puddles.
  2. Set Receiver to a separate floor or ground mesh.
  3. Set Amount.
  4. Choose Paint to enter Vertex Paint on the receiver.
  5. Use Allow to paint puddle centers and Block to erase them.
  6. Choose Exit Paint.
  7. Reselect the original wet mesh and use Regenerate Water button.

The receiver must be a mesh and cannot be the wet target itself. These comparisons keep the scene receiver and change its painted allow area.

Tune puddle spread

Amount changes the spread around every painted center. It does not change where the centers are located.

The puddle comparisons use a light teal visibility material so their footprint remains readable at thumbnail size.

Puddle placement is independent of stream endpoints, hanging drops, target pose, and gravity. Edit the receiver mask when a puddle appears in the wrong place.
